The Feds destroying our stuff

What the hell? We find a port, put lots of fighters and mines AND A PLANET there. Come on the next day, and the Feds destroyed the fighters and the mines, letting other people take our now defensless planet.

They said they did it because it was on a trade route, but I know I keep running into fighters and mines when travelling and they aren't being destroyed by the Feds.

What the hell is going on? Why are the Feds cheating?

As a side note, if the Feds are going to destroy anything you build, it should be listed as FedSpace. There was nothing listing that area as "A Major Trade Route".

An explanation from John Pritchett:

I'd say you're building in one of the major space lanes. MSLs are not marked as FedSpace, but are patrolled by the Feds to keep them clear of Citadels, fighters, mines, etc. This is necessary in order to provide a clear path from Terra to the Class 0 Ports. This has been in the game design for a very long time, but I can see where it might be frustrating if you didn't realize it.

Yep. Like nullvalue said, this is a product of the Feds patroling the path from sector 1 to the spacedock and the two class 0 ports out in space. Likewise, from those ports back to sector 1 are also major space lanes since the two routes won't always be the same.

Also, the reason for this was that WAY back in the day, people use to mine the hell out of the major space lanes and destroy anyone who needed to get to the Class 0 ports or Terra.
