Simply amazing. Thank you very much. There's a character who acts like a Dr. Seuss character who goes by 'Trillistar' that I will be certain to point to this page to qualify much argument I raised about his very, very incorrect timelining.

It is very interesting to me regarding how much noise Scepter (and whatever) caused you to make Angmar->SoC. It is also very interesting to me to hear how Jim Williams was involved loosely in your telecom world. I was on his BBS AEH (America's Electronic Highway, what a name) which became Cyber City and actually dated his daughter a few times.

It seems to me that you were searching for a name in that mess and I think it's probably Brad McDowell. He was cited as the brawn behind actually coding 'Realms' for CC, all of CC itself, and with working with Scepter in the past. Unfortunately, he got himself in rather severe trouble with the law and I have not heard from any of these folks in a very long time.

It's funny, in retrospect. This period of time and this story is relevant to the path which my life took. A strong business colleague of mine was a Cyber City member who became closely affiliated with the company and its Internet business plans. They created a division called 'INGS,' which stood for 'Internet Gaming Systems'. After CC died off, INGS was supposedly to have some form of future, although I'm not exactly sure what. All of this fell apart after Brad went to jail. I had just become fairly involved with operations as this happened. We actually have the Realms source code somewhere, operational on Linux, and had a front-end for it, too.

I had more I was going to speak about, but I've forgotten it now, the girl came home and doesn't understand that I lose my train of thought easily. :( Thank you again for the timeline, I'm not even finished reading it, but will read on now. I'd be curious to meet up and speak about years past!

How many people still play a little nethack every now and then? It's still being developed... :D

I'd be mad about some LoC or (hee) some GC....

--- *snip* ---
Ironically, all of this reminescing has me somewhat nostalgic to revisit my old games. I may look into the possibility of porting it all back to Unix and setting up a system on the internet that people can telnet to and try them out. What the heck, I still think there's room in the world for text-based games that are well done. Stay tuned.

Believe it or not, there are still BBS's out there running old MajorBBS software. I found a couple that you can telnet to that have SoC and LoC (and all that other crazy MajorBBS crap):

bbs.nucleus.com
silent-running.com

"People would call up this BBS they knew absolutely nothing about, log in and find themselves literally plunked down into the middle of this menuless adventure game. It must have just confused the hell out of people! "

It couldn't have been better than that way! You dialed up and entered another world.. A true MUD. To have forums, chat, email, whatever else, outside the world, would have made the world seem smaller, incomplete, lacking..

"That Oren Payne is really a psycho, I'm glad to be rid of him and his kid. "

I knew the Payne daughters, and yeah Oren was a psycho.

And I'll bet he's just thrilled to have his psychotnicness forever memorialized on my website. Ah, revenge is sweet :-)
